you can never go wrong with an original asian horror film.  all american remakes  never seem to be worthwhile.  but the severe shock value alone will horrify you.  Shutter seals the silver lining of paranormal activity in photography.  those mysterious blurs, smears, shadows, images, and other sorts of bizarre effects remnant in photos are a mystery to many.  in this film, they are a warning, a caution, a sign.

A young photographer Thun and his girlfriend Jane discover mysterious shadows in their photographs after fleeing the sceen of an accident. As they investigate the phenomenon, they find other photographs contain similar supernatural images, that Thun’s best friends are being haunted as well, and Jane discovers that her boyfriend has not told her everything. It soon becomes clear that you can not escape your past.

quite frankly, this film had all the hair raising, goose bump inducing, shock value that i could ask for.  i screamed many times.  it made me turn on the lights afterwords to watch something ‘funny.’  i love it when you get the adrenaline rush of being frightened.  this movie definitely gave me that rush.  i enjoyed the plot twist at the end.  please do n0t watch the american failure of a counterpart, watch the original Shutter.  it will make you think twice about taking a picture.
