it was just announced that Crispin Glover, (a.k.a. George Mcfly from Back to the Future, creepy Willard from Willard, or some of you might know him as Jimmy from the wonderful Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter,) will be joining the epic cast for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

as i have previously posted, i am highly anticipating Burton’s stylized version of Alice in Wonderland, which will use a “combination of live action and performance-capture technology to tell the Lewis Carroll story.”

Glover will portray the “Knave of Hearts,” who is put on trial for stealing the Queen of Hearts’ tarts and is defended by Alice.  He has experience supporting the performance-capture tech when he was involved in Beowulf.

other cast members include Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter as the evil Red Queen.

news to me, the very talented and hilarious Matt Lucas from Little Britain will be both Tweedledee and Tweedledum!  i couldn’t imagine anyone more perfect to play both roles.  i was just recently introduced to Little Britian by my good friend Shannon, and i must admit, it is the new Kids in the Hall.  both Lucas & David Williams engulf themselves in these absolutely hilarious characters!  it’s so addicting!

i am excited to hear rumors that Michael Sheen will portray the Cheshire Cat, of whom you might know as Lucian from Underworld, but i think he sold Burton in his performance as Tony Blair in The Queen.  i mean, just look at that smile.  it’s perfect!

the cast alone is overwhelming.  so far, Burton has done an excellent job meticulously choosing perfect candidates to portray each character.

and ooooooh!  who will play the March Hare????  i probably have to wait a few more months for that one.

sadly, i have to wait until 2010 before Burton can blow my mind with this upcoming masterpiece.  oh well, let the countdown continue!
